Indoor and Outside Dining

One of the largest café spaces in Windsor is Café Cornerstone. With both indoor and outside dining, you are assured of a pleasant atmosphere all year around. The café is easy to find, with plenty of onsite and street parking available.

Cafe Cornerstone Rustic Charm

Cornerstone of local products and ingredients

Their rustic country minimalist décor suits the emphasis on local. Locally owned by chef Josh Domars, who grew up in the area, his focus is on local produce and suppliers for both their menu and gifts on offer. There is plenty of outdoor shade in the garden area for the summer months, where dogs are welcome, and in-season herbs are readily in supply for the kitchen.

Cafe Cornerstone support local produce

Upon entering the café you are immediately hit with the comforting smell of slow roasting garlic lamb, which ignites your appetite almost instantly, and makes you seek out its inclusion on the menu. From breakfast right through until lunch, every dish comes in a generous serving offering great value for money.

For breakfast, the Eggs Benny Trio is just perfect. When you can’t decide whether you would like the mushrooms, salmon or ham options – this menu item provides all three. While I’m not a vegetarian, the mushroom and spinach version was one I polished off first. The seeded sourdough from Sonoma holds up well underneath the layers of flavour. The hollandaise sauce is incredible with a hint of sweetness, and an extra serving is provided on the side to control the amount to your liking – which for me meant extra lashings of indulgence. The salmon and ham are much richer options, but perfectly balanced on taste and flavour. The high quality ham is provided by a South Windsor butcher.

Cafe Cornerstone Eggs Benedict

The Henty Lamb Pappardelle is a must try, and meets up to the expectations raised from the enticing fragrance. Perfectly cooked pasta is tossed with a generous amount of mouth-watering tomato braised lamb fresh from the farm, and lashings of shaved parmesan are added for a creamy salty element. Delicious and moorish, with no overpowering flavours, this dish lets the lamb shine in its own right.

Cafe Cornerstone Salad

The Roast Pumpkin Salad with sundried tomatoes, grilled haloumi, spinach, roast potatoes and rocket pesto dressing is both a delight for your eyes and tastebuds. The roasted pumpkin, potato and haloumi make this a substantial meal and the potatoes soak up the delicious pesto dressing for added flavour. Salty olives and sweet sundried tomatoes, fresh greens, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes create a continuous surprise of flavour as you persist to dig deeper.

Café Cornerstone also create their own desserts which partner well with the coffee supplied by Bay Coffee. While they aren’t local to the Hawkesbury, Bay Coffee are Sydney roasters who are passionate about their coffee and have chosen Café Cornerstone as their sole distributor in the Hawkesbury area.

Cafe Cornerstone Outside

Whether you’re stopping in for a takeaway coffee, picking up a local cider or jar of honey, or have the time for a sit down meal in the shaded garden, Café Cornerstone offers a great dining experience that showcases the Hawkesbury region.
