Delectable fruits of the sea in the Hills of Sydney

Tucked away in an older part of Dural, Cod’s Gift is easy to discover by the distinctive blue and white outdoor settings that take your mind back to memories of the Greek Isles.  Once inside, the luxe blue, aqua and gold tones, with touches of leafy green, transport you to the ocean, with rich velvet chairs and marble table tops that exude elegance and style.

The restaurant opened by Caroline Neill Ryan and Che Vogler, owners of local favourite Wolfe & Co, and is well known as one of Dural’s preferred fine dining venues.

Unique Snacks Menu

Your first indication of what an upmarket fish and chippery has to offer is on the snacks menu, with Lobster Donuts that need to be tried to be believed. This sweet and savoury invention can be best described as a donut ball coated in cinnamon sugar, sliced in half and filled with rock lobster and a sweet and tangy slaw. It’s confusing, but delicious!

Australian Oysters are sold individually and offered in a variety of ways, that will change from season to season. Sharing plates include Octopus, Scallops, Calamari, Clams and Sashimi and provide a great option for parties.

Not Just Fish and Chips

Surprisingly, the menu is not exclusively seafood laden, with mains including a range of meats to suit all tastes. The Wagyu Rump has a +5 marble score from the Rangers Valley in NSW and is cooked to perfection. Thick slices are placed on a silky smooth cauliflower puree and topped with a rich jus and whole roasted garlic cloves. Accompanied with a pan fried radicchio this dish will satisfy even the fussiest meat lover.

Vegetarians are also looked after with dishes like the delicious Potato gnocchi with burnt sage butter, roasted pumpkin, Persian fetta, and crunchy walnuts.

Of course though, it wouldn’t be a fish and chippery without fish and chips. This dish is provided two ways on the menu with the fish either grilled or fried. The grilled fish is crispy, salty and mouth-watering, and the chips are cooked perfectly. With mushy peas and a zesty yet creamy herb tartare on the side, this Aussie favourite has reached a whole new level.

Decadent Desserts

Desserts are decadent and beautiful to behold. The Lemon and Lime Meringue Tart is pretty as a picture, and the Chocolate mousse with dark chocolate sorbet and mandarin will have your table guests reaching over to your plate for a taste.

Staff are professional, friendly and efficient and add to the dining experience.

They have an extensive drinks list from the bar, with a focus on natural and biodynamic wines that provide a great opportunity for an after work drink and snack with friends.
