When you pull into the large car parking area it can feel more like you’re turning up to Nonna’s, for a family gathering, rather than going out to experience a gourmet meal. From the warm welcome of the name ‘Entrata’ overhanging the rustic Tuscan door, through to the large dining room areas, you’re encouraged to settle into the elegant, yet ‘homely’ feel.

 

When dining during daylight, you’ll experience Tuscany in The Hills, as you take in the breathtaking views of the outdoor settings under vines, set against a sweeping bush land backdrop. And as you look up from your modern comfortable dining setting, you’ll appreciate the subtle acoustic treatment to help with the noise of hosting a full restaurant of guests.

Owned by the Pagano family, locals may be familiar with their Wood Fire Pizza Restaurant, Bel Fiore, in Dural. Now Glenhaven locals, Melissa and husband Tony run the business with their children Isabella and Alexander. Melissa made her mark in their area when she ran ‘The Secret Garden‘ before it became Wild Pear‘ in Dural.

With a focus on authentic Italian food, prepared by Italian chefs using high quality products, this is a unique encounter for the area. The menu changes regularly and there is a separate regional menu that is traditionally prepared, and provides a background on the typical ingredients for the region’s cuisine. When dining in groups of 9 or more, you will experience Entrata’s Menu Fisso – dishes designed to share, including grazing boards, pastas, meats and sides.

After trying various menu items that are equally delicious, you can feel confident that anything you chose from the menu will taste fantastic.

The Cappesanta of fresh scallops in the shell, grilled with Sicilian bread crumbs and brandy, are presented beautifully on a bed of sea salt with lavender garnish. The scallops melt in your mouth, but not before adding a salty, buttery crunch from the bread crumbs.

The Spaghetti Marinara is full of the fruits of the sea including prawns, calamari, muscles, baby octopus – whatever is freshly available. Matched with cherry tomatoes and just the right amount of chilli, the dish is rich in flavour but not overly heavy, and doesn’t fall victim to too much heat.

The Red Snapper wrapped in prosciutto, with an olive and caper crumb, was a pleasant surprise of perfectly paired flavours. Accompanied by an artichoke and fennel puree that is out of this world, and comfort inducing home cooked roasted potatoes, the overall dish exceeds all taste expectations.

Desserts and coffee are also Italian based, from Tiramisu to Pannacotta, Gelato to Affogato, you are well served when looking to end your meal on a sweet note.

At Entrata, the service is friendly, the views are stunning, and the food is authentic. Overall, your dining experience will feel like visiting the family for a home cooked Italian meal done exceptionally well.

Entrata are open for every day except Monday, and dinner only on Tuesdays.
