Sydney’s popular gelato now open in Parramatta

Gelato Messina CustomersA regular pop-up attraction at Sydney events like Vivid and the Sydney Festival, the East Sydney based establishment had received many requests to open in Sydney’s West. “We’ve been asked to move to the West a lot, and we thought Parramatta would be the best spot… but we weren’t prepared to make the move until we found the perfect site,” said co-founder Declan Lee.

Located on the corner of Church and Phillip Streets, Messina Parramatta is a reasonably sized store which can easily cater for large crowds. Opening on Friday 9th June to an excited crowed,
Church Street soon became filled with satisfied customers licking their lips while enjoying a range of signature flavours.

Flavours always on the menu include Pear and Rhubarb, Salted Caramel and White Chocolate, Poached Figs in Marsala, Coconut and Lychee, Dulce De Leche, Apple Pie and Bounty – just to name a few.

Labneh and Pistachio gelato swirled through with Fig and Date JamIn addition to their regular menu of over 35 flavours, Messina release new ‘concoctions’ every week to keep the masses coming back.  During the week that they moved to Parramatta, they released a celebratory flavour called ‘East Meets West’. Consisting of Labneh and Pistachio gelato swirled through with Fig and Date Jam, this was truly a delicious taste sensation and fitting for the occasion.

Gelato Cakes are also a speciality of Messina. These decadent artworks are made by hand and include ‘Dr Evil’s Magic Mushroom’ – formed in the shape of a mushroom filled with dark
chocolate gelato, peanut cookies and dulce de leche, sitting on a ‘grass’ made from popping candy, white chocolate and crushed biscuit. The dome of the mushroom is a layer of flourless chocolate sponge painted with bright red ganache and dotted with white chocolate buttons.

They have serving sizes to suit every appetite – from a mini to 1, 2 or 3 scoops and take home packs for die hard fans.  The pricing however encourages you to choose large serves with a mini costing $3, a single scoop $4, a double scoop is $6 and the triple is $7! But hey don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not complaining about having a trio of these amazing flavours in one hit!

Gelato Messina Friendly StaffThe service is impeccable as the friendly and helpful staff skilfully work to ensure no one needs to wait very long to get their ‘ice-cream fix’.

It’s important to note, especially if you’re buying up big, that they only accept cash. So come cashed up and prepared to make some serious decision making to indulge your taste buds.
