Bella Vista favourite launches New Menu that is Far from ‘Rusty’

The team at Rusty Flute have been busy road-testing new creations on his Specials Board at The Rusty Flute Cafe for the last few months, and the most popular have made it to the newly released menu.

Thankfully for the regulars, some of the original favourites remain, like the bacon and egg brioche roll, smashed avocado on seeded sourdough, and San Pellegrino battered fish and chips.

My personal favourite from the breakfast menu – the granola, has had a face lift. It’s now the Sonoma spelt, maple and almond granola with the same deliciously thick and creamy yoghurt topped with the freshest summer fruits. I have been won over by the sweet and nutty flavours that still retain a super crunchy texture.

Unique Creations

One of the more unique breakfast items is the Roasted Eggplant Bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes, bocconcini, basil, poached egg and balsamic glaze. This savoury feast brings a fresh inspired option to an Italian favourite and the added egg combines the dish together with a richness that makes you forget this is a completely healthy meal.

Avo Smash lovers wanting to go to the next level need look no further than the Haloumi Stack with avocado, poached eggs, spinach, tomato, and salsa verde. Topped off with a side of bacon, you’ll have very little room left for lunch when the time comes.

The lunch menu has new burger and salad options that spark intrigue with their unique combinations. While the Grilled Lemon Herb Chicken Burger with avocado and fetta will please those seeking only mild adventure, the new Sicilian Beef Burger draws out the more thrill-seeking foodie.

With oozy melted provolone, sopressa salami, Sicilian olive tapenade and eggplant – hold tight and get ready for an indulgent burst of flavours. From the sweet cheese to the fermented and spicy salami, and freshly homemade tapenade that you wish you could take home by the bottle, this leaning tower is a journey for the heartiest of explorers.

Super Salad Creations

For something much lighter, the Watermelon and Fetta Salad is a popular new favourite with tomato, cucumber, picked onion and herbs splashed with a red wine vinaigrette.

Still on the fresh and tasty side, but a lot more hearty, is the Honey Haloumi Salad with burghul buckwheat, apple, cucumber, mint, pickled fennel, pomegranate and cashews in a lemon herb dressing. What a radical combination of flavours, with the citrus of vinaigrette matched by the sweetness of apple, the pepper of the rocket balancing the salty sweet honey haloumi, and the tangy aniseed fennel and fresh mint rounded out by the sweet and sour pomegranate – one of my all time favourites. This world of textures and flavours has so many of my favourite things in one bowl I’m beside myself with joy. There are plenty of greens to keep you healthy, and grains to fill you up, and adding lemon herbed Chicken to the dish compliments it perfectly.
