Parramatta Lanes promises food, culture and good times

Art, music and culture combine bigger and better than ever as the hugely popular Parramatta Lanes festival returns from Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 October. But with the amount of vendors coming along – you’ll need to attend every day to sample them all!

Parramatta Lanes Festival

Presented by City of Parramatta as part of Good Food Month, food and culture lovers will be spoiled for choice with some of Sydney’s biggest names heading up the four-day event. The multi award-winning festival will see hidden spaces and laneways in the Parramatta CBD brought to life with gourmet street food, pop-up bars, live music and cutting-edge art.

This year the event will expand to ten lanes with the addition of Willow Grove, set to bring light, spice and colour to the grounds of this historic building, and the exclusive Tropfest Pineapple Lane where an unassuming car park will transform into an intimate laneway cinema, screening films from Tropfest’s 25-year history.

Heading up the festival are head chef and owner Somer Sivrioglu of Efendy Balmain serving up contemporary Turkish cuisine, the ‘fast food, slow food’ fare of Neil Perry’s Burger Project, bespoke cocktails by artisan distillers Archie Rose Distilling Co and refreshing brews by craft beer heroes Young Henrys.

Delicacies from KOI Dessert Bar, the brainchild of Masterchef favourite Reynold Poernomo, and delicious fried chicken from Surry Hills newcomers Butter are also on the menu.

Other dessert offerings will include Jerusalem street dessert from Knafeh, artisan treats from Adora Handmade Chocolates, Dutch waffles from StroopBros, molecular gastronomy creations by N2 Gelato, desserts from KayterCon and out-of-this-world creations from Paper Street Ice Cream.

Locals in the know will recognise hometown favourites including Persian delights from Saffron Restaurant, farm-to-table cuisine with a French twist from Courtney’s Brasserie, European-inspired fare from The Emporium Parramatta and authentic Singaporean and Malaysian flavours from local cult-icon Temasek.

For those who like their food served from decked out vehicles, the Food Truck Food Court will host some of Sydney’s favourite vendors including Eat Art Truck, Happy as Larry, The Nighthawk Diner and Mama Lihn’s with Jamie’s Italian Parramatta serving up delicious cocktails.

City of Parramatta Administrator Amanda Chadwick said: “Parramatta Lanes has cemented itself as one of Sydney’s premiere food and cultural events. With the addition of new lanes, more vendors and partnerships with Tropfest and Parramatta Park Trust, this year’s festival will offer an even more enjoyable experience. I invite people from all over Sydney to come and experience one of the great festivals set in the heart of our great City.”

For the first time ever, Parramatta Lanes will also play host to Dine Bright in the Park, a unique and intimate dining experience set in the World Heritage-listed surrounds of Parramatta Park. With only 100 seats available, the dinner will bring together some of Sydney’s finest chefs to create an exclusive and enviable feast in support of the important work of Bright Hospitality—a not-for-profit committed to connecting people from vulnerable communities with meaningful employment.

Rockpool Group Director Neil Perry said: “We’re proud supporters of Bright Hospitality and thrilled to be a part of this unique dinner, which will showcase excellent produce from local producers while raising valuable funds. This will be a great introduction for us into Parramatta, where will be opening a Burger Project in the new year.”

Tickets to ‘Dine Bright in the Park’ are $120pp and include a welcome cocktail, and a 3-course dinner with matching wines. Tickets can be purchased here.
