Sleep in Longer on Saturdays as this Bella Vista favourite is now open until 2pm

Saturdays… offer the opportunity of a sleep in, a later start to your day, or a lot of catching up on errands and running kids to sport. Sometimes the day is half over before you’ve had a chance to think of grabbing a coffee or taking some time for a weekend brunch.

Thankfully, The Rusty Flute Cafe has extended it’s Saturday trading to 2pm. Now there is plenty of time to stop and enjoy a cup of Toby’s Estate Coffee with one of their delicious menu items.

All Day Breakfast

Whether it is their waffles in half or full size, something from their specials board like pancakes or corn fritters, or a simple bacon and eggs, you can order these all day on Saturday. My personal go-to breakfast, when I just can’t decide, is ‘eggs done your way’ with a side of homemade hashbrown and some jam on the side. This is because I know I’ll have a little bit of left over toast for spreading on some jam, to finish off the meal with a sweet ending.

Unique Creations

One of the best thing about popping in regularly to The Rusty Flute Cafe is that they have daily specials up on the board – and Saturdays are no exception. Their soup flavours change regularly during winter, and I love it when I find their take on Nachos on the menu. The charred corn really adds something special to the dish and when you add some of their grilled chicken, this hot and spicy number becomes a true feast.

The only thing you won’t find on a Saturday lunch menu is their San Pellegrino crisp battered fish and chips, but with so much else on offer, you really won’t miss it. Choose from their range of beautiful roast vegetables salads, to stacks where you can add chicken or salmon.

But I confess I’m a fan of their burger range. Whether you go for the Chicken, Beef or vegetarian Halloumi option, they are always stacked high with a generous pile of chips on the side. This was one of their special burger creations – a chorizo, beef and cheese burger with avocado salsa – sublime!

Coffee and Cake

Even if your Saturday is full of running around after kids, running errands or catching up on household chores, it’s good to know you have until 2pm to stop and simply grab a coffee. Serving Toby’s Estate coffee makes it worth the time to drop in, even for a take away.

If you do have the time, their homemade cakes and slices are so reasonably priced, and go perfectly with your favourite brew. This carrot cake is regularly on the menu and plumped up with crunchy walnuts and the creamiest cheesecake frosting you’ve every tasted.

So relax, take your time, and treat Saturdays as they were meant to be… enjoyed!
